The Charparo Tree Farm employees staff for both tree farm work (nursery workers) and horse care (grooms). The majority of employment is focused between March and October to coincide with growing and foaling season.

Groom (Livestock Labourer)

The grooms at the Charparo Tree Farm will be responsible for general care of horses boarded at the facility. Horses are primarily young horses and those part of the breeding program (broodmares, stallions and foals). This care includes (but not limited to): daily chores, stall cleaning, turn out, grooming, feeding and hydration, holding while horse is attended to by vets, farriers, etc…, and assist riders/trainers with preparing horses for work/training. Grooms will also be responsible for the basic care and upkeep of equipment and facilities within the scope of work.

Nursery Worker

The nursery workers at the Charparo Tree Farm will be responsible for planting of nursery trees; maintaining (which includes but is not limited to weeding; pruning, soil preparation, application of fertilizers, watering) of nursery trees; monitoring nursery trees for signs of insect damage and/or disease infection; application of insecticides/fungicides as needed (within scope); winterization of trees and property (if required); operation of basic farm equipment (ex. Small tractor, backhoe, water truck); maintain inventory and apply materials as needed and keeping a clean work area.
